NEW! Skill Development Program: This year, we are excited to also offer a series of group lessons and clinics for players in the recreational league. You will have the opportunity to sign up for these additional clinics at the time of registration with an additional fee to cover field and instructor fees.
NEW! AGSA Rising Program
We are excited to offer AGSA players more options than ever before this Spring softball season! The love of softball is growing in Alameda and offerings are expanding to meet the interest of our league’s community. In addition to our traditional Recreational League and competitive tournament teams (BLAZE), we have formed a partnership with Livermore Girls Softball Association, Pleasanton Girls Softball League, and Castro Valley Girls Softball League to provide a more competitive Interleague softball option than we’ve had in prior years. This Interleague participation will include Spring Blaze teams and new 10U and 12U “Rising” teams. Details on the Rising program and Interleague play below and learn more about BLAZE here.
The Rising Program serves as a bridge between our recreational and travel programs. It’s an opportunity for players interested in taking the next step to get a lighter version of competitive travel softball in the Spring, further hone their skills and get extra game time while also playing in the Spring Recreational League.
What is the Rising Program?
- Tryout based teams in 10U and 12U age groups that are a supplement to the traditional Spring Rec Season and runs in parallel
- Additional ~10 Sunday practices and game days between February-early May
- Players must also play in the AGSA Rec Season on their recreational teams
- Four Sunday game days against teams from Livermore, Castro Valley and Pleasanton - likely double headers
- Games hosted in other cities and Alameda
- Additional registration fee required to cover uniforms, fields, umpires
- Not a BLAZE team - any Rising players must attend a tryout for the BLAZE teams at the end of Spring season if they are interested in playing competitive tournament softball in the summer
PLEASE READ IMPORTANT NOTE: Playing on a Rising team for the spring season does not guarantee any player a roster spot to play on a Summer BLAZE team. All decisions on roster spots for both teams will be made independently by respective coaches.
How to sign up and try out: Athletes interested in participating in the Rising Program must register and play in the Spring Recreational Season and sign up for the tryout. Players who make the team will be required to submit an additional registration fee ($130) to cover Rising team uniforms, umpires, field time and instructors/coaches.
Step 1: Register for the AGSA Spring Recreational Season
Step 2: Register for the Rising Team Tryout
Step 3: Tryout on December 14 at Challenger Field in Alameda (additional make-up date TBD)
Step 4: Rising teams will be announced in January.
While participation in the AGSA Spring Recreational Season is guaranteed, the Rising team is tryout based and spots are offered to selected players. Unfortunately not everyone who tries out may make the team.
